Drinkable Street Fighter 6 cards go viral after Japanese TV spot

A Japanese TV segment showcasing drinkable trading cards based on Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 has gone viral online, according to Dexerto. One upload of the footage on X has reportedly passed 15 million views.
How the cards work
The product is called Energy Arts. It was developed by Japanese confectionery company UHA Mikakuto in collaboration with Kindai University. Each card holds 12ml of a concentrated, caffeine-free energy drink. Instead of tearing the packaging open, users fold the card until a small opening appears, then suck the liquid out.
There are 24 card designs featuring Street Fighter 6 characters, including Ryu, E. Honda, Dhalsim and Jamie. According to the manufacturer’s announcement, each serving contains 1,000mg of arginine and 1,000mg of citrulline, two amino acids commonly used in supplements.
UHA Mikakuto pitches the cards as a way for gamers to restore energy without pausing a match, and says the process takes about half a second. The company also promotes the small serving size as a way to cut down on bathroom breaks during long gaming sessions.
A second wave of attention
The cards are not new. Dexerto previously reported that they were first revealed in January 2026 and went on sale through Japanese retailers in July. The TV segment, which focused on products predicted to become popular in 2027, has now brought them fresh attention. In the ranking, the cards placed fifth. Presenters demonstrated the product by bending the cards in half and drinking straight from the packaging.
Fans react
Social media users have speculated that other trading card brands could follow. One joked about Yu-Gi-Oh with a riff on the Pot of Greed card, while another said they could not wait for Pokemon drinkable trading cards. Some people raised concerns about scalping if franchises such as Pokemon got involved, and others doubted that drinkable cards were a good idea at all.
There is also an obvious drawback for collectors. Drinking the energy shot requires folding the card in half, which could ruin its condition as a collectible. Dexerto suggests buying two: one to keep and one to drink.
